Camping in Canada embodies the spirit of exploration, adventure, and appreciation for nature. It’s a cherished tradition that not only connects Canadians to their vast and beautiful country but also reinforces the importance of preserving these natural treasures for future generations to enjoy. Camping for the first time can be an exhilarating adventure opening up a world of possibilities. You could be starting a new family tradition! Or creating unforgettable memories with friends that push you to explore other provincial parks across Ontario.

While it may seem daunting to try camping for the first time, you are not alone. Many people share the fears and worries that you may have, like:

Last summer, some Ontario Parks Ambassadors shared their favourite memories!

This summer I got the opportunity to meet so many new people and help some new campers develop their love for the outdoors.

One of the most memorable moments that I had during this season was with a couple that was attending a workshop. This was their second time camping, and first time at Earl Rowe (an Ontario Parks site). They were so excited to learn more about cooking while camping, specifically about cooking over the fire. I loved being able to share some of my favourite campfire recipes and helping them learn some different techniques for building a fire.
