Kootenay Plains Ecological Reserve 

Located about an hour’s drive from Nordegg, Kootenay Plains Ecological Reserve protects fragile montane habitats. Here you’ll find plenty of grassland and forests, where many species of rare plants and other wildlife thrive. Gravesites in the area make the Kootenay Plains important to Indigenous peoples, as well. Here you’ll find a number of beautiful trails, including a scenic hike to Siffleur Falls, which makes the reserve a popular place to hike. Some areas of the reserve can also be used for mountain biking and horseback riding also.
