Moonshine Lake Provincial Park in 27 km west of Spirit River on Hwy 49 and 7 km north on Hwy 725.
The park is an excellent location for birds and wildlife, with the recent inclusion of Jack Bird Pond that incorporates a wildlife movement corridor and adds a small wetland complex containing a number of beaver ponds. The abundance of birds and waterfowl (including trumpeter swans) makes Jack Bird Pond an excellent bird watching site. Surrounded by diverse boreal mixed wood forests, Moonshine Lake offers a variety of year-round recreation, including 15 kms of cross-country ski trails and ice fishing in winter. In summer, explore the 2.5 km Lakeview trail, relax on the beach or cast a line for trout from shore or from your boat (electric motors only). The kids will enjoy the bike park and playground.
